Design Storm 2025

Are you interested in collaboration? Design Storm is your opportunity to collaborate with new people from across the region at our Annual Festival. Directors, designers, and dramaturgs from different schools are teamed up to create the production of their dreams in a timed collaborative event, where participants from all areas have the opportunity to approach a classic or contemporary text in a way that is unlike all previous productions. Your work will be responded to by DTM respondents and might be recognized.

The format of the presentation:

• Paper project, created and presented at the Region 1 Conference, in collaboration with other students.

Before the Festival:

• Fill out the Design Storm Entry Form no later than January 24th, 2025.
• Choose and Read your preferred plays. (See list below)
• Plan to bring materials you may need to use to implement the project. (paper, paint, markers, fabric, scissors, glue, etc.)

At the Festival:

• Work with team members on the design and presentation. The collaborative teams will be announced at the DTM Kickoff event, after the opening ceremony on Tuesday Jan 28th.
• Design materials can be printed at the conference for no charge.
• Present finished collaborative projects during the Design Storm Response Session.

2. Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl: drama/magical realism/woman centered-8 characters
3. Once on this Island by Lynn Ahrens/Stephen Flaherty: musical/culture-16 characters
4. Our Town by Thornton Wilder: American classic drama/period-23 characters
5. The Boys in the Band by Mart Crowley: drama/LGBTQ/contemporary-9 characters
